The quick walkaround:

The Dornier Do X was the largest, heaviest, and most powerful flying boat in the world during its time. It was designed by Claudius Dornier himself and built by the Dornier company of Germany. The Do X was powered by 12 engines and carried 169 passengers. In 1931, it flew it’s maiden transatlantic flight from Germany to New York City. However, the cost of operating the Do X was too high and the project was eventually abandoned.
